Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024, is the first day of school for the 2024-25 school year at the Aberdeen Public School District! Remember, grades 1-9 will have a full day of school.

School start and dismissal times for Aug. 20 are as follows:

Elementary Schools: 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Middle Schools: 8 a.m.-3:10 p.m.

High School (Grade 9): 8:10 a.m.-3:20 p.m.

High School (Grades 10-12): 12:20-3:20 p.m.

Welcome to kindergarten!

Below is the kindergarten schedule for the first week of school:

Monday, Aug. 19, 2024 will be an Open House, 6:30–7:30 p.m., for all families. Students and parents are welcome to visit the school and drop off school supplies to their classroom.

Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024 will be Parent Orientation starting at 8:05 a.m. This orientation is for parents only and allows parents time to ask questions of the Kindergarten teachers.

Wednesday, Aug. 21, Thursday, Aug. 22, or Friday, Aug. 23, 2024 will be your child’s first day of attendance this fall. Small groups will be held from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. You will sign up for one of these days at the school during Open House or Parent Orientation. Students will eat lunch at school on their small group day. Your child will only attend one of the small group days on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.

Monday, August 26, 2024: Kindergarten students begin all day, every day classes.

To attend kindergarten this fall:

• Your child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 of the year they enter kindergarten.

• You must register at their assigned school. Assignments are made according to parent/guardian residence, or through an open enrollment or transfer request. Find school boundary maps here.

• A certified birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residence are required at the time of registration. Parents will receive a letter with additional registration information.

All six of our elementary schools—C.C. Lee, Lincoln, May Overby, Mike Miller, O.M. Tiffany and Simmons—will have Back-to-School Open Houses on the following night:

Monday, Aug. 19, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The 2024-25 elementary school supply list for the Aberdeen Public School District is below:

Students at Holgate Middle School and Simmons Middle School will have opportunities to pick up their schedules and attend orientation meetings prior to school starting.

Here is the schedule for both middle schools:

• 8th grade WEB Leader training is Thursday, Aug. 15, from 9-11 a.m.

• 6th grade WEB is Friday, Aug. 16, from 9-11:30 a.m.

• 7th/8th Schedule/Chromebook pickup is Monday, Aug. 19, from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

• 6th grade Back-to-School Night is Monday, Aug. 19, from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Aberdeen Central High School will have its Back-to-School Student ID and Picture Days on Aug. 5 and 6! 

• Students may come anytime during the day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• For students unable to attend those days, a make-up day will be held Aug. 20, 8 a.m.-noon.

• There is no supply list at this time; teachers will provide a syllabus on the first day of school.

Open House: On Tuesday, Aug. 6, there is a freshman and new student open house from 7-8 p.m. in the Thomas F. Kelly Theatre.
