Linda Resmen and her grandchildren

ABERDEEN, S.D. – For Linda Resmen, being part of the Aberdeen Public School District helps her keep up with her grandchildren’s activities—all nine of them in the district.

Resmen’s grandchildren all attend Aberdeen Public Schools, except for the youngest, who is not yet school age. They are:

·         Karson Borge, a senior at Central High School

·         Kamdyn Borge, a sophomore at Central High School

·         Bentley Pickrel, a freshman at Central High School.

·         Kannon Borge, a seventh grader at Simmons Middle School.

·         Carter Pickrel, a seventh grader at Simmons Middle School.

·         Korbin Borge, a fifth grader at May Overby Elementary.

·         Grayson Pickrel, a third grader at May Overby Elemenary.

·         Leighton Pickrel, a second grader at Simmons Elementary.

·         Lawson Pickrel, a kindergartener at May Overby Elemenary.

·         Anderson Pickrel, age 2.

“They’re just awesome kids,” Resmen said of her grandchildren. “They’re all good kids.”

This Grandparents Day, Resmen’s grandkids also shared what they love about her.

“She’s one of the nicest people I know, and she’s always giving,” Karson said. “She’s never in a bad mood.”

“She’s kind,” Kannon said.

“She’s always very involved with everything,” Kamdyn said.

“Her personality,” Leighton said.

“She takes us fishing and she’s really nice,” Korbin added. “She always wants to be with us.”

This is Resmen’s 15th year at Holgate Middle School, where she started in the kitchen and now works in the office.

Two of Resmen’s children also work for Aberdeen Public Schools—Amber Borge is the nurse at May Overby, and Dustin Pickrel is the counselor at May Overby. Both said they appreciate that their mom also works in the school district.

“We hear lots of our friends, or the kids’ friends, say, ‘Oh I love having your mom in the office,’ or ‘I got to see Linda today,’” Borge said. “… I know she always takes good care of everyone. She’s always done that.”
