Central High School students at the Youth Expo at NSU

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Aberdeen Central High School students got a sneak peek at higher education, employment and military opportunities on Wednesday at the Youth Career Expo and Post-High Planning Days.

The event, sponsored by the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce, was held at the Northern State University Barnett Center.

Around 1,000 high school students attended, including juniors and seniors from Central High School and school districts around the region.

Students were able to visit informational tables set up around Wachs Arena to learn about the numerous post-secondary institutions, businesses and military representatives in attendance. The organizations offered information, prizes, selfie stations and even hands-on activities.

Gail Ochs, Chief Executive Officer of the Aberdeen Chamber, said, “The event provides a great opportunity for area businesses to connect with students and share information on careers, internships, scholarships and more.”
