Simmons Middle School students recognized Inclusion Week last week, celebrating student body diversity and all the ways in which we can support each other and encourage making compassionate choices to help everyone feel like they are respected and an important part of our school community!
SMS Golden Crew members joined students from Mrs. Ashmore's Achieve classroom for some games and social time and visited 6th grade classrooms to talk about the importance of inclusion and to help students fill out pledges to build up a supportive school community. Students in grades 7-8 also spent a morning stopping at our tables to fill out pledge cards and to pick up materials promoting inclusion in our school!

Today in class, students partnered up to peer edit their narratives using a checklist. They provided constructive feedback on creativity, organization, details, and grammar, helping each other improve their stories and make them stronger!
Simmons Middle School is participating in Read Across America Week. They are celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss with lots of Seuss book trivia quizzes.

Simmons Middle School will have a meeting for students who intend to participate in track and field on Tuesday, March 4 after school. Students will also complete concussion testing if they have not already done so this year. All students should be finished by 4:30pm.

Mrs. Conklin's 6th grade Design and Modeling classes collaborated with Mrs. Christenson's 1st grade class at CC Lee Elementary for a digital design project! The 1st graders provided the drawings, and the 6th graders provided them with a digital version created in Canva.
