6th graders in Mrs. Drees's language arts classroom enjoyed a relaxing but exciting read-aloud, Alone by Megan E. Freeman, as part of their themed survival unit. What a great way to kickstart the week after a break!

Parker’s Homeroom students added leaves to our Thankful Tree. Hearing their gratitude and appreciation for the blessings in their lives was such a joy to share! 🍂

Right before we headed home early due to the blizzard (and just in time for Thanksgiving break) we wrapped up November with a sweet reward for great attendance!
Our top three homerooms with the highest attendance percentages earned the chance to select one student to pie a staff member in the face… and they did not disappoint!
👏 Congratulations to Mrs. Drees, Mrs. Stolp, and Mrs. Jark’s homerooms for winning the November Attendance Challenge!
And a HUGE shoutout to our amazing staff members who took one for the team: SRO Olson, Ms. Leitheiser, and Ms. Thompson. THANK YOU for being such great sports and for helping us show students that showing up matters (even if it means taking a pie to the face)!

Due to the weather conditions, Aberdeen Public Schools will be dismissing at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 25. The YDC, Boys & Girls Club and Ride Line will be picking up students at 1 p.m. There will be no afterschool activities and no afternoon preschool. Thank you and have a happy Thanksgiving!

Today we celebrated the 67th day of school!
We surprised students with trivia throughout the day, rewarded caller 6 or 7’s classes with treats, handed out Perfect Attendance certificates, and had a blast!
Here’s to being 67 days smarter and loving every minute at SMS!
