Mrs. Conklin and Mrs. Wilkinson's 8th grade classes combined for a STEM Challenge: pasta cars!
Mrs Conklin's 8th grade Robotics students created Automatas using some of the mechanisms they've learned in class. The tops jump and/or spin when the cranks are turned. The tops and gears were designed and 3D printed by the students.
This afternoon we celebrated the homerooms of Brockhaus, Leidholt, Hansen, and A. Thompson for winning our attendance challenge! Their kids all averaged a daily attendance rate of 96.%!! #GoEagles

This month, the Simmons Middle School Student Senate is hosting a Basketball Food Drive for the Salvation Army, with staff vs. student free throw challenges during homeroom!
As part of the challenge, students and staff can bring in a food item and place it in the box of whichever competitor they want to have an advantage!

Simmons Middle School students recognized Inclusion Week last week, celebrating student body diversity and all the ways in which we can support each other and encourage making compassionate choices to help everyone feel like they are respected and an important part of our school community!
SMS Golden Crew members joined students from Mrs. Ashmore's Achieve classroom for some games and social time and visited 6th grade classrooms to talk about the importance of inclusion and to help students fill out pledges to build up a supportive school community. Students in grades 7-8 also spent a morning stopping at our tables to fill out pledge cards and to pick up materials promoting inclusion in our school!
