The guest speakers for December's SMS International Club were International Exchange Students, Julie from Germany and Maria from Brazil. Both students attend Central High School and live with a host family. Julie speaks German, French and English, and Maria speaks Portuguese and English. Both girls love American hamburgers, but don't care for the cold weather in South Dakota. The International Club meets once a month and all students are invited to attend!

The homerooms of Conklin and McCafferty made cancer care packages for the Avera Cancer Institute. A special thanks to Jessica Petersen for coming from the cancer center to visit with our students and for taking the care packages to be delivered to patients. #asdgoldenhour

Dr. Guffin with November Caught in the Act winner, Ms. Thompson
We knocked our community service day out of the park! Students volunteered at local elementary schools while others made cards, wreaths, blankets, and centerpieces for nursing homes. Students enjoyed making dog toys for the Humane Society or had fun building care packages for the Avera Cancer Center. Others put together birthday bags for residents at Aspire, and a few homerooms even made bracelets to sell to raise money for Angel Tree gifts! #proudtobeaneagle #asdgoldenhour #goeagles #aberdeenpublicschools

Trefz's Homeroom went to Simmons Elementary to strategically place Inspirational Rocks. Kids also placed rocks around SMS.

Kids will think they found a treasure under the steps.
"We wish we had this when we were in elementary school."
It will take a while for kids to find a rock up here.
Let's go that way!
Maybe kids waiting for rides would like to find rocks!
Oh no, we ran out of rocks to hide.
