This summer, we’re celebrating the history of our schools with informational posts! For our final post, we’re highlighting two schools at once: Simmons Elementary and Simmons Middle School! 💙🦅💛

Did you know?

Simmons Elementary was founded in 1955 on land donated by John Simmons, a banker and a part of the State Legislature in Aberdeen, the school's namesake.

Simmons Middle School was also named after John Simmons. The first building opened in 1928 as Simmons Junior High. In 2001, the named changed to Simmons Middle School. In 2008, the old school was torn down and the new academic building and auxiliary gym that is used today was built!

Parents: You’ll be getting a text message from our new Aberdeen Public School District classroom communications platform!

Watch for notifications that you’ve been added to your child’s classroom.

This change will allow all communication to come through one platform, replacing apps like See Saw and Remind!

More information will come at the beginning of next school year!
