The Aberdeen Public School District is proud to be celebrating America’s 250th birthday alongside our community!
Last weekend, the community kicked off the celebration at Melgaard Park. Our CHS NASA Drum Group, Wambli Ohitika (Brave Eagles), gave a wonderful performance. The event also included the opening of a time capsule from 1976, with a speech by Aberdeen Central graduate Stephen Bakken, who was there when the time capsule was buried 50 years ago!

On Friday, Aberdeen Central held its own 250th celebration with the band performing in the morning. The first 500 students in the doors in the morning who dress in red, white, and blue got a donut. Teachers were encouraged to dress up as historical figures, and historical announcements were made throughout the day.

All of our schools are getting into the celebratory spirit with activities, events, dress-up days—including patriotic shirts like the ones pictured at Lincoln Elementary!
